Miracles & Dandelions' unique, quality jewelry made and designed by Barbara Hinkley, are one of a kind.  Vintage or antique clasps, pendants or beads are often included in the designs. . . making each piece even more unique. Almost all are hand knotted on silk, with colors in contrast with the gems for a distinct effect. These heirloom quality pieces can be passed on down through the ages.

the story behind the name

Miracles & Dandelions was named by my daughter when she was six years old. I had been selling on eBay for some time and also sold things at a co-op store in Cedar City.  One day as she was driving, Risa spoke up from the back of the car and said that she knew her mother should name her next store or business. "Miracles and Dandelions!" she exclaimed. Risa was my miracle baby and the name she chose for my next business venture was perfect for that reason and more.

I have been in the jewelry business for 20 years and had a family business selling antiques. I search high and low for unique jewelry pieces, including vintage and antique jewelry, and I studied and taught myself the art of hand knotting jewelry.

This jewelry started with a passion of finding old and mixing it with the new. Many pieces have antique/vintage clasps, pendants, beads and or semi precious stones.

When I started making them I soon found that the jewelry appealed to others as well. When I began wearing the pieces I made for myself people began wanting to buy them off me right there and then!  It was easy to see that people want something unique and of quality.

I  take pride in the materials I use and the uniqueness of each piece. I only use the best...sterling silver, gold and even antique brass. Earring wires, clasps and chains are usually sterling silver, gold or brass. Nothing is plated. I use all sorts of pearls, faceted semi-precious gems and fun, colorful beads. I use silk with a contrasting color many times to bring out the pearls/stones. And I try not to duplicate any piece of art I make! I hope that those who wear my jewelry will enjoy them.

To help your jewelry stay beautiful and strong please follow the recommendations below.

~ No jewelry cleaners please. These pieces should only be wiped only with a soft cloth

~ Do not bathe or shower while wearing.  It might cause the silk to fade in color and stretch the knots.

~ Do not let the jewelry come in contact with hair sprays, perfumes or lotions.
